If growing plants in a controlled environment sounds like your kind of gardening, be sure to check out this week’s Esposito virtual seminar, “Hydroponic Gardening,” on Saturday, Aug. 14.
Mike Hagerud, Hydroponics manager at Esposito Garden Center, will join Ms. Grow-It-All, aka Esposito Garden Consultant Audrey Post, for a discussion about how to get started growing plants without soil.
“In hydroponic gardening, water does the work of delivering nutrients that plants in the ground take up from the soil,” Post said. “You still have to fertilize, make sure there’s adequate light and provide proper air circulation. It’s a fascinating way to grow plants, vegetables in particular, and it is growing in popularity.”
The seminar is free via Zoom but registration is required. Go to the “Events” section of the Esposito Facebook page to register. You can also register on espositogardencenter.com. You will receive a confirmation email that will include the link and your password to the seminar.
The Zoom portal will open at 9:30 a.m. and the seminar itself will begin at 10 a.m. Please check in at least five to 10 minutes early. The door from the waiting room is locked once the program begins; thus, late arrivals cannot be admitted.
